Utah!

We're waiting on the ladies to finish getting ready for the day so I thought I would post real quick. The flight out here was fine. We managed to avoid all the bad weather and had two fairly pleasant flights. It's not terribly cold, the elevation takes some getting used to, the air is dry and the time being a hour behind is kind of strange when you're used to going east and being an hour ahead. Sara and Mike also have an incredible view of the mountains all around them. The whole area is in kind of a valley surrounded by a circle of mountains. Anyway, more later.

Adventures in HVAC

So a couple of weeks ago DeAnne and I are watching a movie or something and it gets to a quiet part where no one's talking and it just so happens that at that moment the air conditioner cut off. Normally we wouldn't have paid it much mind except for the dripping noise that accompanied the shutoff. Turns out that our inside unit had a coil leak. This normally wouldn't be too expensive to replace, but it the unit was the original one that came with the house. It was 15 years old.

They gave us a couple of options. We could replace just the interior unit for about the same it would cost us to get new coils or we could just get a whole new unit. So we're now the proud owners of a new HVAC system. I'm interested to see what it does to the power bill. It came with a new digital thermostat that's nothing fancy, but it's got to be better than the old analog one we had. Also, our old unit was a 10 seer (what that means exactly, I'm not sure, I just know it's the efficiency rating) and the new one is a 13. It'll be interesting to compare the next couple of power bills to what we were paying last year.

In other news, we're now just a week away from spring break and our trip to Utah to see DeAnne's sister and her husband. She's really looking forward to it and I guess I am too except for the flying. Flying is such a pain.

Other than that, that's about it. If I think of something else, I'll post again. Later.
